It is easy to determine whether poker professional Scotty Nguyen is a participant in a poker event or not. Born in Nha Tang, Vietnam on October 28, 1962, Scotty Nguyen, whose real name is Thuan Nguyen, arrived in the United States at the age of fourteen years old. He first stayed in Chicago, Illinois and then, relocated to California after one year. In California, he had the chance to live with a host family. And it is in this state where he became exposed to the game of poker.

As soon as he was earning big in the poker industry, Scotty Nguyen started to visit Vietnam on a regular basis to see his relatives. Furthermore, he has also constructed a house in his hometown for his mother.

In the United States, Scotty Nguyen is known for living big. Among his interests are wearing expensive jewelry and wearing expensive clothes. As a matter of fact, he is always seen wearing gold rings and chains at the poker table and this has already become his trademark, which also includes expensive wardrobe.

There was also a time when he was included in the cast of a motion picture that focused on poker. The film was titled "The Big Blind" and was shown in U.S. cinemas in 1999.

Scotty Nguyen is known to have generated more than US$7,500,000 poker winnings as of 2007. This is due to his exceptional contributions to the industry which include four bracelets from the World Series of Poker. He earned the first one in 1997 wherein he won US$156,950 and he earned his second bracelet in the following year wherein he won US$1,000,000. The last two bracelets were both won in 2001, wherein he won US$178,480 in the US$2,500 Omaha 8 or Better and US$287,580 in the US$5,000 Omaha Hi/Lo Split Eight or Better.

Scotty Nguyen may have already achieved a lot as a poker professional, but he still dreams of achieving more in the poker circuit.
